Terms of service

These terms are between you and Simon Smith, trading as Readstack ("Readstack"). By creating an account or using Readstack, you agree to these terms. Our Privacy Policy explains how we handle personal data.

What Readstack is

Readstack is a read-later service. You save articles from the web, we parse and store them so you can read them later without distractions. We cannot guarantee every article will display correctly as web pages vary wildly.

Your account

You are responsible for keeping your account secure. We use GitHub and Google OAuth so there is no password to manage on our end, but you should ensure your OAuth provider account is secure.

You may only create one account per person. We reserve the right to close duplicate accounts.

Free allowance and subscription

New accounts can save up to 50 articles for free. Once you reach that limit you will need to subscribe to save more. You can still read everything you have already saved.

Deleting articles does not restore your free allowance.

Paid subscriptions are billed monthly or annually through Stripe and renew automatically until cancelled. The price and billing period will be shown before you subscribe.

You can cancel at any time from your billing settings. Unless otherwise required by law, your subscription will remain active until the end of the billing period you have already paid for and will not renew after that. We do not offer pro-rata refunds for unused time on monthly or annual plans, except as described below.

If you subscribe for the first time and decide Readstack is not for you, contact us within 14 days of your first payment and we will refund that payment in full. No forms, no fuss. This does not affect any statutory rights you may have.

Acceptable use

Please don't use Readstack to:

• Overload the service, bulk-extract data, or attempt to reverse engineer it
• Save content for redistribution or commercial use
• Create accounts programmatically, or use the service in a bulk or abusive automated way (our bookmarklet is fine)

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms.

Saved content

Articles and other webpages you save are stored on your behalf for your personal use. Readstack does not claim ownership of third-party content that you save.

You must not use Readstack to infringe copyright, redistribute saved content, or make commercial use of content you do not have the right to use in that way.

We may remove stored content or restrict access where reasonably necessary to respond to a credible copyright complaint or comply with the law.

Availability

We aim to keep Readstack available and reliable, but we cannot guarantee that the service will always be uninterrupted, error-free, or that every webpage will be parsed correctly.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable when you entered into these terms, or for losses that were not caused by our breach of these terms. Nothing in these terms excludes or limits any liability or consumer right that cannot legally be excluded or limited.

Readstack should not be used as the only copy of anything important.

Termination

You can delete your account at any time from settings. When you do, your account and saved library will be deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy.

We may suspend or terminate an account where reasonably necessary because:

• The account materially breaches these terms
• We reasonably believe it is being used for fraud, abuse, or unlawful activity
• Suspension or termination is necessary to protect Readstack, our users, or third parties
• We are required to do so by law
• We discontinue the service

Where reasonably practicable, we will give you notice before terminating your account for reasons that do not require immediate action. If we end a paid subscription without cause and you have prepaid for a period you will no longer be able to use, we will refund the unused portion where appropriate.

Changes to these terms

If we make significant changes we will notify you by email before they take effect. Continued use of the service after that point means you accept the updated terms.

Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales.
